CSC Adelaide
3 April 2008
CSC has a long history in South Australia and has supported the Defence, Natural Resources, and Manufacturing & Distribution sectors in the State since the 1970s. Through this time, the company has maintained a consistent focus on the Defence Industry and supported a number of Federal and State agencies in the Public sector.
CSC has fostered a core competency in software development supporting various projects for the Department of Defence and other clients within the Defence industry. This core competency spans a number of software operating environments including both real-time and command support.
Currently 120 staff are located around South Australia, supporting defence projects as well as the growing business activities in the commercial sector.
CSC sees significant opportunity for growth in South Australia based on its current activities, as well as growth from new business. Against this backdrop, CSC has invested $12 million in a new purpose built facility at Technology Park, Mawson Lakes outside Adelaide.
The new 1,500 square metre building is purpose built to support the requirements of CSC’s different lines of business. The building is spread over two levels and features six meeting rooms. The design permits physical and IT services segregation allowing multiple projects to be undertaken in separate secure environments. This allows CSC to work and team with a variety of clients and work on multiple projects in the same facility.
The new building features hi-tech security systems, allowing a full scope of work to be carried out for Defence and commercial customers. The offices have been equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as voice over IP (VoIP) telephony and a high-speed data network.
CSC’s new technology service and support centre in Mawson Lakes incorporates passive design to maintain a comfortable work environment in both the summer and winter months.
The new site embraces Salisbury Council's "reWater" initiative, using recycled water for flushing toilets and a night time dripper system watering the primarily indigenous plantings surrounding the building. Inside the building, the showers are fitted with low flow heads, and flow restrictors on the hand basin taps to keep water wastage to a minimum.
The CSC team in Mawson Lakes has wholeheartedly embraced environmentally smart activities. Recycling systems for paper products, toner cartridges, mobile phones, hard plastics and cans are incorporated into the business-as-usual function. In addition, CSC's "Power Save Pete" initiative is practiced widely. It encourages the practice of switching off and unplugging of electrical devices when they are not being used.
